The travel industry and Twitter, part 3

[Note: This list will now be kept here on a permanent basis]

A quick update then on the wealth of travel industry Twitterers out there. Well over two months ago, I asked: Why aren’t UK travel companies using Twitter?

Since that original post, and a further one (here) I’ve stumbled upon a whole new world of ‘Twitter meets travel’, and have even been contacted by some travel firms. So I stand corrected.

This latest list is still mostly American, but there are a few more UK-based firms on it.

It’s interesting to note how many American tourist boards have started using Twitter; they all cleverly post back to their official websites.

Travel booking websites are also getting in on the act.

The travel industry is a fun industry, and Twitter lends itself perfectly to the environment.

It’s a great marketing tool, and with the 140 characters restriction, you can easily scan the headlines to pick out what you need.

Here’s the new list then, but for a less corporate list, take a look at Elliott’s blog.

And please get in touch if I’ve missed you out – leave a comment at the end of this post, or send me message here.

Travel firms using Twitter (updated 18 Dec)

  1. This is great…

  2. Hi, Great post on the travel industry’s use of Twitter and social media for that matter! I noticed that you do not have Pennsylvania on your list. You can find PA on Twitter @PAadventure and we also engage on Facebook, Flickr, Youtube and maintain a successful travel blog all about the state of PA http://www.paadventure.com

Check them out when you get a chance! And thanks again for the great info! I’m going to retweet your link to PA’s followers!
